Oluwafunmilayo Fadirepo - With God, all things are possible
Welcome!
Hello!

My name is Oluwafunmilayo Olawunmi Fadirepo, also know as Funmi Fadirepo for short. I am going to be a Junior this year (2004-2005) attending Concordia University St Paul. My major is education, Birth through grades 6, specializing in early childhood. I am involved in a lot of activities and organizations at Concordia University. I am one of the middle hitters on the NCAA Division II Volley ball team at Concordia University. This year was a great year for us, because we were 1st in our conference, 1st in our region and we advanced and got 2nd in the nation. We plan on achieving higher goals this year like becoming 1st in the nation. I am the Vice President of UMOJA, which is our multicultural organization on campus. I am also the secretary of Senate, and a peer advisor for the incoming freshman. Apart from school and sports, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, watching movies, going to church, singing and dancing. Those are some of the things I enjoy doing, another thing I enjoy doing is working with kids. Working kids is my passion, which is one of the reasons why I want to become a teacher. Over the past 5 or 6 years i have worked with kids in different ways. I have worked at summer camps, and day cares. I have started a babysitting job with the people in my community, neighborhood and church. During school, I volunteer as a tutor at an after school program at a community center across from my school. I also volunteered as a teachers aid in a kindergarden class at a charter school near my school. This summer (2004), I worked as a teachers aid during summer school at a public middle school through the Urban Educator Summer Scholars Program. This was a great oppurtunity for me to aid in a different environment than what i was used to. Not only was it an Urban school, but it was a middle school with a group of students that I have not had any experience teaching with. I learned so much from both the students and the teachers and I gained a lot of knowledge that will come in handy as I prepare to become a teacher and when I become a teacher. Through my experiences and involvements with kids, my passion has grown stronger, and I can not wait to become a teacher and watch my students grow and learn in my classroom. I also can not wait to hear the joyous call of my first student calling my name (Miss Fadirepo).
